VEGA Wine
Ten minutes in the aisle, down to a few seconds.
Ten minutes in the wine aisle. Plenty of choice, nothing to go on. Point your camera at the label. You'll see how it tastes and what to eat with it.
At home it does the other half of the work. It keeps a record of what you have in the house and what you have already drunk. Then it helps you decide what to open tonight.
Not only wine. It covers sake, beer, whisky, gin, and shochu as well.
In use
Three moments where it helps.
In the aisle
Photograph the label of a bottle you have never met. You get its character, and the food it sits well beside.
Back home, before dinner
Say what you are cooking. The bottles you already own come back in order, the closest match at the top.
While they are still good
It tells you which bottles are near the end of their good years. The right one gets opened first.
Inside
Four things it keeps for you.
Your cellar
What you have in the house, what you have finished, and what you want to buy.
Add a bottle by typing a single line, or by photographing the label.
Pairing, both ways
Describe a dish and your own bottles come back ranked, each with a plain reason.
Start from a bottle instead, and you get dishes that suit it.
A tasting journal
Your notes and your ratings, kept together in one place.
Over time it draws a picture of what you actually drink.
A map of your shelf
The places your bottles have come from, drawn as your own collection.
It fills in as the collection grows.
Language and preferences are yours to set.
On screen
What it looks like.
How it answers
Two things worth saying plainly.
It will not name a bottle to buy
When nothing you own suits the meal, it says what to look for. A style, a grape, a region.
It never names a producer or a label. A bottle it cannot verify is not worth recommending to you.
It follows your taste, not an average
The more you rate, the closer the ranking gets to your own taste.
So rate as you drink. The order slowly comes to look like you.
Status
In development
Still being built.
VEGA Wine is not finished. There is no date to give you yet, and we would rather not invent one.

Questions
Before you ask.
Do I have to enter my whole cellar before it is useful?
No. A handful of bottles is enough to get an answer. Add the rest whenever you feel like it.
Is it only for wine?
No. Sake, beer, whisky, gin, and shochu sit on the same shelf and get the same treatment.
Why will it not tell me which bottle to buy?
It gives you a style, a grape, and a region instead. Naming one particular bottle would be a guess, and a guess is no help at the shelf.
Where can I read the privacy policy?
It is here: Privacy Policy: VEGA Wine.
